Wiz Khalifa Ft Mac Miller – Goin’ Places

Pittsburgh’s two greatest rappers on one track?? Yes! We’ve been waiting a long time to hear a collaboration between the two Pittsburgh boys, Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller. Today we get an unreleased track from Fast Eddie off his new mixtape Live From The 412 Vol. 5. By giving it a listen you can tell it was recorded a few years ago, probably before either artist hit it big. This track is fire though regardless!!

Mac Miller & Wiz Khalifa Make History In Their Hometown

Mac Miller & Wiz Khalifa brought their “Under The Influence of Music” tour to their hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday night by performing at the First Niagara Pavilion. Before I get into writing my review for the show I would like to explain some background on the Pittsburgh hip-hop scene over the past handful of years. Pittsburgh has never been a hip-hop hot bed, but over the past few years we have seen our fair share of big tours pass through. I personally have been in attendance for Lil Wayne twice and Drake once at the First Niagara Pavilion and none of them performed in front of the crowd we saw for Mac & Wiz. Kanye West & Jay-z brought their ‘Watch The Throne’ tour to Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center last fall and performed in front of a less than sold out crowd. For The Under The Influence tour Mac & Wiz brought in over 20,000 spectators (may have been closer to 25,000). None of the others have been able to touch these numbers which probably makes this show the most sold hip-hop event ever in our city. That is why I say in the title that the duo “make history in their hometown”.

Now onto the review. Upon arriving at the venue around 2 pm, my friends and I were greeted by hundreds of cars stretched up and down the road engaging in good pre concert tailgates since the parking lots did not open until 3 pm. When the lots did open the party was really on as thousands of fans busted out alcohol and got ‘under the influence’ while waiting for the show to start.

Let’s start off saying it was amazing, it seemed like alot more people were there for Mac Miller, but im a HUGE fan of Wiz so i was basically going more hard to him lol.

Chevy Woods definitely killed the stage, his performance was highlighted by a performance of the track “Two Hundred” where he brought out fellow Taylor Ganger, Tuki Carter. Kendrick Lamar was unable to make the show for unknown reasons. Chiddy Bang and Schoolboy Q did their thing before Mac took the stage.

I arrived at the show at 5pm was in line at the merchandise booth when Boaz came on stage to do a few songs. He did a dope job on stage before Chevy came out to Homerun and did some tracks off Gangland.

A few tracks from the Cook Out followed, before he did the Yonkers freestyle and another off the top of his head. Then Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar did there thing. With Chiddy Bang performing in between with songs like Breakfast, opposite of adults, and mind your manners. Chiddy also did a freestyle using words fans shouted out to him.

Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller return for their biggest hometown showcase yet

On Saturday night, Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller will return to Pittsburgh to perform their biggest hometown show yet. Recently Scott Mervis was able to chat with the guys about the upcoming show, you can read what they had to say below:

If you live in Pittsburgh you probably know that Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller are Taylor Allderdice grads and Rostrum Records labelmates who also work out of ID Labs studio in Lawrenceville.

Miller has said that he’s looked up to Khalifa as a mentor, but the two artists — headlining the Under the Influence of Music Tour that stops at the First Niagara Pavilion on Saturday — never walked the halls of Allderdice together and didn’t share a stage here until December 2010 at Stage AE.

There was never an era of slugging it out in small clubs together.

“Nah, he’s a lot younger than I am, so I did a lot of that stuff before he was even old enough to do that,” Khalifa said on the phone Tuesday from a tour stop in Scarsborough, Maine. “He was in high school while I was putting a lot of work in.

Last night was the Under the Influence Tour at the Molson Ampotheatre in Toronto. The show was amazing. Everything was perfect. The Molson Amp is my favourite venue in Toronto, so I knew the show would be great…and it was…better than I could even imagine. All the artists did amazing, the weather was great, the green smell in the air was fresh, and the crowd was on Cloud 9….just perfect!
